What We’re Looking For:
Emerald is looking for a multi-disciplinary Market Research Director to deliver top-tier, creative research for our clients. We are seeking someone who loves to lead collaboratively, is wildly customer centric and who thrives in a fast-paced environment. This role will focus on driving research initiatives; building narratives, and mentoring teams to service a variety of tech clients. Your work will span qualitative, quantitative, and behavioral data, and will be used by business planners, marketers, engineers, and executives to bring the customer into their decisions and establish themselves as leaders in their field.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Delivery
- Execute primary research and consulting projects (both qualitative and quantitative) from proposal to final report, signing off on each deliverable
- Lead the proposal process to create compelling and visually engaging proposals, accurately scoping and pricing new business opportunities and identifying case studies and assets required for cross team use
- Ensure profit margins are met and that projects are consistently scoped to company standards
- Guide the research design process and oversee the team in the development of approaches across methods, audiences, and objectives, balancing required depth/complexity with project costs to ensure projects meet profitability standards
- Demonstrate deep proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, with the ability to guide clients, teams, and leadership through all phases of research design, execution, and analysis.
- Manage data quality control across all projects, team members, and external partners, ensuring data is accurate and reporting is validated and checked, enforcing high quality across all project phases and work processes
- Build reporting and insight narratives by connecting themes and concepts, transporting audiences so they can see the world from a new point of view
- Produce advanced visualizations that bring data visualization to a new level, including infographics, data stories and thought leadership assets
- Work with external partners for survey creation, hosting, and analysis (ie DCMs)
- Scope, build, and test simulators and advanced survey instruments
- Understand statistical models and where to apply them, partnering with data scientists to weight, throttle and control data outcomes
Client Relationships
- Formulate strategies and processes to evaluate emerging and longer-term opportunities and threats relative to client needs and key study objectives
- Advocate on behalf of clients, identifying solutions that meet both client and business needs and flagging when changes may be needed to meet project goals and desires outcomes
- Leverage presentation time with clients to build rapport, empathize with the client mindset, and deepen client relationships
Leadership
- Work collaboratively with senior leadership and peer colleagues in an entrepreneurial environment
- Guide and mentor across a team of insights managers and analysts, acting as both a project resource and a people manager
- Play a key leadership role in shaping Emerald's culture, driving standards of quality, strategic thinking, and professional excellence across the organization
- Lead by example, ensuring you can teach and also execute each step of the project process
- Challenge your junior colleagues to stretch and grow beyond their current capabilities
- Develop methods for tool and skill development across teams and levels at Emerald

Must Haves (Requirements):
- A 4-year Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of progressive market research, marketing, or consulting experience (in house or at an agency)
- 2+ years of experiencing mentoring and coaching analysts and managers to excel in their roles
- Experience with statistical software (e.g. SPSS, Q) and research tools (e.g. Decipher, SPSS Data Collection, Qualtrics)
- Excellent Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and written / verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel to the Seattle metro area regularly to attend key client and team meetings

In order to comply with equal pay and salary transparency laws in various locations, this role follows a market-based compensation framework. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and geographic location.
The anticipated base salary ranges by geographic zone are:
Zone 1 (High-Cost Market): $117,000 – $130,000
Zone 2(Mid-Cost Market): $104,000 – $117,000
Zone 3(Lower-Cost Market): $91,000 – $104,000
